Maintain and operate catapults, arresting gear, frenzel lens landing devices and all associated machinery. |

Maintenance of YORKTOWN's hanger bays and safe movement of all aircraft on the hanger deck. Maintenance and operation of YORKTOWN's three aircraft elevators. |

V-4 |
Refueling all aircraft and maintenance and operation of aviation fuel systems. |

CR |
Communications Radio Division personnel operate voice equipment, encode and decode incoming and outgoing message traffic, and see to the proper routing of message traffic throughout the YORKTOWN. |

Communication Signal Division is charged with the task of keeping YORKTOWN in touch with ships in company by means of semaphore, flags and flashing light. |

D |
D Division technicians work in four dental operations rooms, assisting the three dental officers, and have facilities for X-ray, dental prosthetics and any type of dental work needed by YORKTOWN's crew. |

A |
Responsible for the care and repair of a multitude of auxiliary equipment. A few of these are steering engines, ship's whistle, and air conditioning plants. |

B Division operates YORKTOWN's boilers. |

E |
Maintenance of YORKTOWN's electrical equipment and systems. |

M |
Operation and maintenance of YORKTOWN's main engine and turbo generators. |

R |
Repair, maintenance of damage control and fire fighting equipment. Plus, design, fabrication and installation of improvements to existing YORKTOWN systems. |

H |
YORKTOWN's medical staff provides minor to major surgery and professional medical care to the crew. |

Navigation personnel are responsible for the safe steering and piloting of YORKTOWN. |

||
OC |
OC Division personnel work in Air Operations or in Carrier Air Traffic Control [CATOC]. Primary functions are for the safe and expeditious control and recovery of aircraft under all weathering conditions, day or night. |

||
OE |
OE Division is charged with maintenance and repair of YORKTOWN's electronic equipment. Including navigation, communications and surveillance. |

O1 |
O1 personnel operate YORKTOWN's radar and information gathering systems. |
|
||
OP |
YORKTOWN's photographers take, process and evaluate all photographs. |
|
||
SO |
SO personnel operate and maintain YORKTOWN's sonar plus analyzing all ASW sensor data from task group. |

||
S-1 |
YORKTOWN's storekeepers are responsible for the procurement, receipt, stowage, issue and transfer of such items as general hardware, paints, cleaning supplies, lubricants, forms, and countless other items aboard. |

||
S-2 |
Operation of the food lines, in-flight lunches, mid-watch galleys and keeping YORKTOWN's crew of over 2,500 happy are the responsibility of S-2 personnel. |
|
||
S-2M |
S-2m personnel undertake the tedious job and responsibility of keeping the messing accommodations clean and sanitary for YORKTOWN's crew. |
|
||
S-3 |
S-3 personnel man the barber, tailor and cobbler shops. They also operate the main ships store, uniform shop, the YORKTOWN smoke shop and keep the Geedunk machines full. |

||
S-4 |
Paymasters see that each man aboard YORKTOWN is properly paid, plus handling allotment, per diem and tax paper work. |

||
S-5 |
Division personnel operate officer's mess and maintain officer's staterooms. |
|
||
S-6 |
Responsible for procurement and accounting of the spare parts and countless items necessary to maintain YORKTOWN's aircraft. |

S-7 |
Responsible for data processing and computer operations. |
|
||
1ST |
Responsible for care and cleaning of the forecastle and operation and maintenance of ship's anchors. |

||
2ND |
Responsible for refueling and underway replenishments [UNREPS] |

||
3RD |
Responsible for care and cleaning of the fantail, plus provide watchstanders and personnel for refueling and UNREPS. |

||
EOD |
YORKTOWN's bomb squad. Qualified to disarm, maintain, or jettison any explosives aboard. Also responsible for checking YORKTOWs hull integrity. |

||
GA |
Responsible for safe handling and transportation of aviation ordnance from magazine to fight deck and back. |
|
||
GB |
Responsible for YORKTOWN's arsenal plus upkeep, maintenance and the proper functioning of all associated equipment. |
|
||
5TH |
Responsible for loading, fire direction, maintenance and repair of YORKTOWN's big guns. |
|
||
FOX |
Responsible for aiming and automatically firing YORKTOWN's guns through the use of radar, computers and other fire control equipment. |
|
||
W |
Weapons, including torpedoes and depth charges. Many weapons handled by this division are highly classified and are guarded by the MARDET |
|
||
MAR DET |
Marine Detachment personnel perform duties as sentries, orderlies, provide an honor guard for special occasions, man one of the 5" gun mounts, and provide the nucleus of the ship's landing party. |
